The Foundation of the Cairn Terrier Club of America is funded entirely by donations from you – our supporters and lovers of Cairns. In addition to our Year End Appeal, we typically run one fundraiser annually – most often as live and silent auctions. This year, preceding the the National Specialty, in Pennsylvania we will be auctioning off three items during the Live Auction. The following night during our Foundation Fun Reception we will be running a fabulous raffle. It is our sincerest hope to have as many people participate as possible; not just limit it to those at the event.
If you will be with us – this is a preview of what the Foundation will be putting up for auction, so bring your good cheer and credit card or check!
For the Live Auction - If you are unable to be with us, you may place a bid on any item and it will be placed, on your behalf, by one of the Trustees as a “house” bid on the night of the event. About the Artists
Daniel Rouviere was a 20th century French artist whose work was so popular in Europe that very few of his paintings were ever sold in the United States. Many of his works show animals outside in typical rural settings. This is a rare opportunity to own a painting by this respected artists. Based on the very limited number of Rouviere works available online, the estimated value of the painting is $795.
Sandie, who is a CTCA member, says: "I am always struck by the natural, elegant, and stately manner in which Cairn Terriers seem to pose themselves. Torin seemed to have "posed" herself so intently on that day, but she also seemed to have that stance that said "something caught my eye and I'm ready to pounce at any moment". That's what I love about Cairn Terriers! My vision of the Cairn Terrier's attitude, alertness, fearlessness and the pure elegance of their form is what I like to convey on canvas. I hope you enjoy this beautiful little girl who embodies how I see all of our Cairns!"
BOB Jewelers - the pendant was created by BOB Jewelers, a longtime vendor at MCKC. Replacement value estimated at $750 based on today's gold price.
Marijke Gunneweg - This year's World Dog Show offered a unique opportunity to acquire Gunneweg's original work which, for many years, has been admired at dog shows in the Netherlands and abroad.
Well respected for her work on a wide variety of canine breeds, she says, "Painting dogs began as a hobby, but it soon became my profession. It was something close to my heart."
For health reasons, the artist no longer paints. At the World Dog Show 2018 she offered her entire collection of original oil paintings. "This was my life's work which I have presented at many dog shows in places such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dortmund, Barcelona, Brussels, Vienna, Portugal and Berlin." says Gunneweg.
